Fire Alarm Systems for Historic Heritage Buildings
We visit Trieste
What an Amazing Place !
As an authorised partner & after carrying out numerous bespoke wireless Fire Alarm installation projects over the last 12 Months, Fire Queen Ltd we’re invited to Trieste for a factory visit & to see the manufacturing processes for the Hyfire Taurus equipment. The Fire Safety equipment supplied by Hyfire is fully compliant to BS5839-1-2017 & EN54-25; devices are rigorously tested to ensure that they operate as intended.
One of Trieste’s most Historical buildings is protected by a Hyfire Taurus Wireless System; the exquisite decoration within the castle could not be compromised by unsightly cables & trunking….
The Castle of Miramare was the private residence of Archduke Ferdinand Maximilian of Habsburg, where he lived with his wife Charlotte of Belgium between 1861 & 1864. Designed in 1856 by Austrian architect Carl Junker, the architectural structure of Miramare reflects the artistic interests of the archduke, who was acquainted with the eclectic styles of Austria, Germany & England. A mixture of English & Italian style, the Castle Park was originally an acclimatisation garden for the cultivation & development of exotic & Mediterranean plants.
With so many priceless artefacts & furnishings installed in the castle, it is vital the Fire System provides a reliable means of early warning to ensure the fast response of Emergency Services. Combining this with the need to ensure the building aesthetics were kept as original as possible, meant the Taurus system was selected. These Systems are perfect for any building where it is important to keep the decoration as original as possible but also not compromise on safety. Heritage sites, Churches, Hotels, Museums, Pubs & restaurants are just a few examples where these Wireless Systems would be the most suitable installation option.
Historic England have detailed guidance on installing Fire Alarm systems in a historic building.
When installing or upgrading a fire alarm system in a historic building, care must be taken to balance the operational requirements with the interiors & fabric. You can read the whole article with all the guidance on Fire Alarms for Historic Buildings on the Historic England Website here
Wireless fire alarm systems use secure wireless connections between the sensors & the panel. Wireless technology in listed buildings & scheduled structures, where suitable, can help limit the amount of permanent damage &/or loss of historic fabric such as cabling, chasing, hole drilling & help reduce installation costs.
This type of installation will require a signal strength survey to be carried out & signal booster aerials installed as needed where the structure blocks or weakens the signal strength.
